Decorating my uni room like a Film Noir?
Question by H G: Decorating my uni room like a Film Noir?
Does anyone have any ideas what i could have? I’m looking for cheapish items, as i’m on a low budget. Think Jack Nicholson in Chinatown!

Film noir is a late 40s to 50s genre, so pick pieces from your local flea market or auction that date to that period. In particular, tufted furniture and channel back chairs are great. Also industrial pieces, swivel chairs, metal desks, etc. The shabby look is all the better. Cool idea!

A Girl and Her Room is a series of intimate portraits of teenage girls and young women from different areas of the world taken in the privacy of their bedroom. The artist, Rania Matar, chose this theme as she observed the changes and insecurities her own teenage daughter began to experience as she matured.
Gaining entrance into these young girls’ most personal space, developing an intimate and collaborative relationship with them, getting to know them and photograph them in such a private setting without any judgment were all what the photographer was after and what make this photographic series so unique and personal. As Rania Matar explains “I originally let the girls choose the place of their choice, and was slowly welcomed into their bedrooms, an area that is they can fully control, decorate, trash, and be themselves in, within an outside world that is often intimidating. I felt very privileged to have gained their trust.”
